Jamie's American Road Trip

After nearly five years of campaigning shows including Jamie's School Dinners and Ministry of Food, Jamie Oliver is back with Jamie's American Road Trip.
The show is a real return in style to the classic Jamie's Italian Adventure. Rather than escaping the family in camper van around Umbria, this series sees an older, wiser family man more attuned to social issues.

The first episode sees Jamie take up residence in LA's Latino barrios, learning about Mexican food. His character is really allowed to shine throughout the show as he gains the trust and friendship of the people he spends time with.

The initial Mexican episode probably won't have people rushing to buy the book as each dish seemed to use a mass of ingredients to create very simple looking food - Huervos Rancheros (scrambled eggs with avocado, salsa and sour cream) a perfect example. But I'll still be getting the book and trying out some recipes as soon as possible. I can't wait for the creole episode. Maybe I'll finally crack baking well-risen corn bread.
